“The area that I grew up in is called the Rio Grande Valley,” the actress explains. “The majority of the people that lived, there when I was there, lived well below poverty. I like this movie a lot because I feel like it’s a good way to tell kids that they matter. And I think, growing up, when you come from a family that doesn’t have a lot, a lot of times the parents forget to tell the kids that they matter because we’re too busy trying to survive. And I want them to know back home, because my brothers still live there and I visit often, I want people down there to know that it’s possible to have a dream and actually achieve it.”
Achieving the goal of inspiration is something that directors and others contributors nailed with CARS 3. “Nothing happens by accident in a PIXAR movie,” says co-star Nathan Fillion. “They tell a story one pixel at a time. So by the time it gets to the point where I’m sitting there in front of the microphone, all the hard work has actually been done.”

Isaiah Whitlock Jr., a.k.a. River Scott, also says, “We kind of deal with the heart of racing. When we think about racing, we think about passion and the heart, and what it’s all about. I think the character that I play exhibited that over time.”
