Although, in the United States, cigarette usage has hit record lows and continues to drop, Big Tobacco companies are ramping up their efforts in hopes that they will find a new generation of product consumers.
In order to expose these companies and their profiling tactics, 19-year-old Let It Shine Disney actress Coco Jones, has teamed up with truth® and DoSomething.org. With the creation of a new emoji-based compatibility quiz called, “Who Has Their Eye on You?” teens are shown exactly how tobacco companies are vying to win their loyalty.
“I was shocked by my match and couldn’t believe how many ways Big Tobacco targets black, LGBT, low-income an other marginalized youth,” Jones commented in a press release. “I want to do my part to ensure my fans know about these disgusting tactics, shout it out and be and be the generation that ends smoking for good.”
The quiz follows the launch of the #STOPPROFILING campaign by truth®. The campaign highlights the fact that the affects of tobacco usage is, in fact, disproportionately unfair. Hopefully, Generation Z will be the generation to put an end to smoking once and for all.
