With Father’s Day a few days away, Foot Locker has teamed up with some of the top NBA draft prospects for an emotional “thank you, dad” commercial and one of the likely top five picks, Lonzo Ball, is among them.
19-year-old Ball, as he is making his transition from playing basketball at UCLA to the NBA, has become a household name in part due to his amazing talent on the court and in part due to his ever-so-vocal father, LaVar Ball.
Although Ball’s father has placed himself in the driver’s seat of his son’s career, trashed talked Michael Jordan, angered LeBron James, has already trademarked his son’s name, cost his son a shoe deal that had a reported $10 million paycheck attached, and told 29 out of 30 teams not to bother drafting his son. Instead of hiding in the shadows, as a result of his father’s antics, the young rising star seems to have found a sense of Shakespearean humor in relation to it all.
