Did you know that with a simple mathematical theory, you could associate your phone number with your age? We didn’t either until we met 13-year-old Jemal Abraha.
The Eritrean sixth-grader created such a theory and has been hailed a mathematical genius, being nicknamed after the ancient Greek Mathematician Archimedes of Syracus.
Abraha’s formula cold take less than a minute to solve. So impressed by Abraha’s skills, technology giant Apple has offered him a lifetime scholarship and signing fee of 30 million dollars to come and work for them upon graduation. See if you can figure out Abraha’s formula below.
- Take the last digit of your phone number.
- Multiply it by 2
- Add 5 to it
- Multiply the answer by 50
- Add 1766
- Subtract the year of your birth (19**)
You will get a 3 digit answer but the last two digits are your age! How did he do it?!
