Serena Williams is having a girl! Venus Williams revealed the gender of her sister’s unborn child by accident on Wednesday.
Venus was getting ready for her match against Kurumi Nara at the French Open, which she won, when an Eurosport reporter asked her about Serena’s pregnancy. “She’s going to call me favorite aunt,” Venus said all while referring to the expected little one as a “she.” The tennis star made it quite clear that Serena and fiance Alexis Ohanian are expecting a girl when she began pitching names on camera. “We’re a[ll] like baby V, baby Lyn, baby Esher, we all want the baby to be named after us,” Venus said.
This isn’t the first time that details surrounding Serena’s family expansion have been revealed by accident. After all, Serena unintentionally announced her pregnancy after sharing what should have been a private photo with the Snapchat world.
Williams previously told media that the gender of her unborn child was a mystery. “We’re waiting,” she revealed at Met Gala earlier this month. “[It’s] a surprise. We call it ‘baby,'” Serena added. The mystery appears solved thanks to big sister Venus.
In any case, Serena Williams and fiance Alexis Ohanian are expecting their daughter to arrive in coming weeks. The little one will be the couple’s first child.
