For an adult, a cancer diagnoses can be devastating but for a child it can be truly earth- shattering for all involved. In order to make an impact and help doctors and researchers come one step closer to finding a cure, it takes a village. Twelve-year-old Ciara Howard is on a mission to help erase cancer once and for all.
At the age of nine, Howard started her mission to change the world by creating Children Making Strides Against Childhood Cancer. Each year, Howard hosts fundraising galas and fashion shows, in order to make things happen for those that truly in need. In addition to raising funds, Howard also honors cancer survivors, donates clothing to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Center’s pediatric spring prom, and registers potential bone marrow donors. Howard is not only spreading awareness about childhood cancer, but she is also fighting the good fight to make cancer history.
This year, Howard, a former Brooklyn Nets kids dancer and former Jordan Brand Ambassador, no stranger to the world of fashion and entertainment, was able to leverage her connections and partner with Sean John’s #sjdreambig project to bring to life an amazing star-studded event. In addition to Howard, DJ Envy, his wife, Gia Casey, and Heaven King also shared hosting duties for the the night.
