Two years of being cancer-free warrants a big celebration. Leah Still crossed her 24-month milestone a few days ago and took to social media to commemorate the significant moment.
The youngster’s father, Devon Still, posted a video of his daughter encouraging fans to contribute funds to finding a cure for cancer. The footage was recorded after Leah and Devon held a Spring Gala fundraising event for their nonprofit, Still Strong Foundation. “If you couldn’t make it today, you can still help us in the fight against cancer by clicking the link in my bio to donate,” Leah told Devon’s Instagram followers.
Devon’s daughter captured the hearts of many in 2014 when it was discovered that she was battling with stage four cancer. Devon was initially fired from the Cincinnati Bengals because of his numerous absences. The team, however, re-hired the NFL player after learning that his poor attendance was due to him caring for little Leah.
The celebrity father shared a throwback picture this past weekend that showed him with Leah in the doctor’s office right before getting the devastating news of cancer. “From the moment we took this picture in the hospital, right before doctors walked in the room and said she had cancer, we had an extremely tough fight,” Devon said. “But no matter how hard it got we never gave up.”
Never giving up came with the ultimate reward of Leah being deemed as cancer-free in 2015. “We celebrate your strength and perseverance, Leah,” Devon exclaimed. “I love you more than you could ever possibly know.”
Leah Still celebrates her seventh birthday in May.
