The 48th annual NAACP Image Awards Nominees’ Luncheon took place January 28th, at the Loews Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, kicking-off a host of celebrations in honor of this year’s nominees.
NAACP Chairman, Roslyn Brock, addressed the luncheon crowd, expressing her gratitude for those that continue to openly push for a discussion on race and diversity in America. “The Image Awards have been around for 48 years and it’s important for us to celebrate the differences in our community,” states Brock. “It’s important to be in this position and to be a woman and unapologetically be a woman in leadership. I’m so proud of what’s happening in our nation with young people and women who are standing up to be accountable for what they believe in. Everyone is going to think differently and that’s okay, but what we need to find is common ground and be willing to work on those things where we differ.”
Two of the luncheon’s attendees were the stylish sisters, Chloe X Halle. The duo are nominated in the Image Award’s recording category for Outstanding New Artist.
Among the list of additional nominees for this year are:Beyonce, Viola Davis, Dwayne Johnson, Regina King, and Chance the Rapper, to name a few. The movies that have been nominated include Moonlight, Birth of a Nation, Loving, Fences, and Hidden Figures. For a complete list of nominees and additional categories, click here.
