From triumph to defeat? Sherri Shepherd’s child support case may have taken a turn for the worse regarding the television personality.
TMZ reveals a Christmas card that Sherri sent to family members, which talks about her transition from New Jersey to Los Angeles, California. “I took a leap of faith and moved us back to Los Angeles,” the star said in reference to her and her son Jeffrey’s relocation. “We couldn’t be more happy to be with our family and friends.”
Such statement would be nothing more than a celebration of new beginnings if Sherri hadn’t recently scored a victory in her child support case against ex-husband Lamar Sally partially based on the grounds of her residing in New Jersey. A California judge dismissed Lamar’s request for an increase in child support payments earlier this week due to New Jersey’s jurisdiction over the matter of his and Sherri’s son, Lamar Jr. Sherri’s representative gave a statement shortly after the ruling.
“Shepherd had a huge victory in the California family court,” the spokesperson said. “The California judge agreed with Shepherd’s counsel Terry Levich Ross, Esq. and determined that by Sally’s own agreement in two separate legal judgments, New Jersey has exclusive and ongoing jurisdiction over this child support issue and all matters must be dealt with only in that state.”
Some media outlets believe that recent evidence, which suggests Sherri’s new residence in Los Angeles could change the verdict. According to TMZ, “Lamar’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, has jumped all over this like white on rice.”
