New Edition has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Bobby Brown and his son, Cassius, joined others in celebrating his R&B group’s notoriety on Monday.
Cassius was rocking a bright red hat with pink blazer that out-shined his dad’s attire that was black with denim. Bobby held on to his son while taking in all of the love from adoring fans.
New Edition has been Hollywood’s center these past few weeks because of the BET dramatic miniseries, The New Edition Story, that sheds light on the group’s triumphs and pitfalls while en route to greatness.
“When New Edition came out, we were the first generation of hip-hop; we mixed it with R&B singing,” Bobby tells Rolling Stone. “Fortunately it worked,” he adds.
Luke James, who is responsible for pushing the story of New Edition to the small screen, also comments on the group’s significance in the music industry. “It’s important to tell this story,” he explains. “It’s important for black culture, for pop culture, to know that these guys deserve these accolades. [New Edition] truly paved the way for the way you hear music, the way R&B artists to hip-hop artists look now. They just changed the whole idea.”
The New Edition Story miniseries continues tonight at 9 PM on BET. Bobby Brown is the proud father of six kids.
