BEATS AND RAP CREW GO VIRAL AGAIN ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO ‘GROW FOOD’

All across the United States, minority communities suffer from what are commonly known as “Food Desserts”—neighborhoods where there are no grocery stores or restaurants that offer residents healthy options. Instead, these areas have open access to non-healthy options such as fast food chains, leading the populace towards serious health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, and more.

With the launch of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move”, which encourages a new generation to get out and move and eat healthier, nonprofits have popped up everywhere in support her initiative. One such nonprofit is Appetite For Change in North Minneapolis. AFC recently teamed up with the Beats and Rhymes crew, the same group that created the 14 million YouTube viral “Hot Cheetos and Takis song”, to flip the script, and encourage communities to “Grow Food”.
