Kerry Washington is preparing for baby number two and she’s pulling out all of her maternity tricks. The actress tells Ellen how she conceals her bump when on the set of Scandal.
“Big coats, big bags…hiding behind different body parts of other actors,” Kerry explains. “Like if I’m in the back of the room, it can be, like, somebody’s leg, and I’m positioned behind it.” Washington also tells Ellen that “lamps are good” for hiding her bump.
In addition to preparing for a baby and shooting scenes for her popular show, Kerry donates her time to the Purple Purse Foundation. “Financial abuse is when an abuser uses destroying a woman’s credit, or access to transportation to get to work, or taking money out of her bank account, any of these kinds of visible tools that an abuser uses to keep a woman trapped [is] called financial abuse,” Kerry shares.
The actress continues, “It’s the number one reason why women stay in abusive relationships and even the number one reason why women go back after they leave. I started working with the Purple Purse Foundation to help women have the tools to take care of themselves financially and be able to walk away and leave.”
Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha are expecting their second child to arrive in coming months. The newborn boy or girl will join the couple’s daughter, Isabelle, at home.
