The people of Flint, Michigan are still in need of urgent help. For nearly three years, individuals living in Flint drink, bathe in and cook with tainted water that is filled with lead, copper and other harmful toxins; causing skin lesions, hair loss and other deadly illnesses. The Clean Water Collective, a collective group organization that comes together in order to support people in the midst of water crisis, has started a GoFundMe page, pledging to raise $25,000.00 in order to purchase goods and items for the people of Flint.
Actress/dancer Imani Knox, daughter of Flex Alexander and Shanice Wilson, is the latest celebrity to speak out on social media in support of donation efforts for Flint residents. “It breaks my heart to see that the people in Flint, Michigan do not have fresh water to drink and bathe in everyday. I love seeing all the posts on your Instagram of your team sending fresh water bottles to Flint. It’s amazing to see that different communities, families, and friends are coming together to help the people in Flint. No matter our age, we can make a difference!”
As a part of a back-to-school/end-of-summer bash, scheduled for September 10th, to help boost the morale of residents, the collective will host a barbeque event and give away needed items. The 14-year-old encouraged her followers to donate to the cause as well. “We still need school uniforms, water filters, and sneakers—support #CleanWater4Flint to happen on September 10th, and Donate today— “
Items that will be purchased with funds raised include backpacks, shoes, school supplies, clothing, bottled water, hand sanitizers, working water filters (countertops), working water filter bottles, wipes, diapers, suit/ties, and school uniforms. During the family-fun packed event, the group will hold inspirational seminars on health & wellness, there will be live entertainment, and of course, face painting for all.
