On August 14, 2016, styled and dressed by @monnalisabeverlyhills, triple threat Asia Monet Ray attended the premiere of Focus Features’ Kubo and the Two Strings at AMC Universal City Walk in Universal City, California.
The 11-year-old , born in Yorba Linda, CA, first caught the national spotlight in the dance world when she became the youngest person ever to take home the StarPower National Championship title. From there, Ray went on to dance into our hearts and homes via Lifetime’s Dance Mom’s, with famed choreographer Abby Lee Miller, and then on to her own Lifetime docuseries, Raising Asia, where fans were able to follow the day-to-day life of not only Ray, but they got the opportunity to get to know the entire family.
Followers could not get enough of this tiny budding star. They demanded more and naturally, Ray answered their call! She has gone on to release a self-titled debut album, “Asia Monet” which features original songs inspired by friends, family, and fans. In addition to her self-titled album, Ray released a music video in 2014 on Vevo that got 4.4 million views in its first year and most recently, she released a cover of Justin Beiber’s “I’ll Show You”.
Does she stop there? Of course not! Ray continues to take Tinseltown by storm. This year alone, she has appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and Major Crimes. In 2015, movie-goers got the opportunity to see Ray flex her acting skills on the big screen as she starred in the film, SisterCode. As if her schedule was not busy enough, Ray has added model to her resume, taking to the runway for LA Fashion Week for the second year in a row. What’s next for this tiny star? We will just have to tune in and follow her journey.
