Zendaya was one of several winners at this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards. The K.C. Undercoverstar made a moving speech during her acceptance of the award for Favorite Female TV Star in a kids’ show.
“This is so beautiful,” Zendaya said. “This means so, so much to me. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I do it for you guys. I just want you to know that doing and making positive programming for young people is so important to me, and I will keep doing it.”
Many praised Zendaya for her showing at the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards. A few critics, however, attempted to shame the young star for her petite body frame. “And thinspo model for your impressionable tweens,” actress Julie Klausner tweeted after the ceremony. “Zendaya’s ultimate retort to Giuliana Rancic is starving herself down to the size of one of her elbowz.”
Zendaya responded to the scrutiny with a few tweets of her own. “Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you aswell #youreallywannabenext,” she wrote. The actress concluded her segment by telling fans to “go look in the mirror at their beautiful body, and love that s***.”
