Coy Stewart hopes to inspire a generation. The ‘Bella and the Bulldog’ star and Nickelodeon recently teamed up to bring the annual ‘Because of Them, We Can’ video that honors the accomplishments of African American trailblazers.
Coy joins other kids in the video who dress like their favorite sojourners. “We aren’t just dressing up,” Coy says during the shoot. “We’re dreaming up.”
If anyone knows how to dream big, it’s Stewart. The young star saw his vision of becoming an actor come to fruition when his hit role on ‘Bella and the Bulldog’ expanded, and is looking to further broaden his horizon in the industry. “Before I moved to L.A., I was so focused on acting, I didn’t realize the opportunities it really offered other kids in the business,” he says. He goes on to tell media that he was preparing a mixtape that he plans to debut “once the time is right.”
Stewart also has dreams of furthering the anti-bullying movement. “I was bullied as a kid in school,” he explains. “I would hear kids tell me that I couldn’t be on TV. I couldn’t do what I wanted to do and to be here now, it’s crazy for me. I feel like I should spread that to other teenagers who don’t have that vision, don’t see it as possible. I didn’t see it as possible until I did it.”
