Cam Newton has a little genius on his hands. The NFL star recently revealed that his son, Chosen, is walking just one month after birth.
“I was going to bring little Chosen with me,” Cam said during a press conference, “but I didn’t think he could walk down the steps yet. He’s already walking if you didn’t know. He’s a month old.”
Cam and girlfriend Kia Proctor welcomed their son last month. “My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week,” the star athlete said after Kia gave birth. “I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time,” he added.
While many were happy for Cam and his girlfriend, one fan scrutinized the star athlete for having a child out of wedlock. “Congratulations would be in order if he had been man enough to marry the mother of his child and make a home,” the critic wrote. Cam’s father, Cecil Newton, responded in the most elegant way.
“I want it to be known that his mother and I are staunch Christian proponents of marriage and all things pertaining to legitimacy,” he said. “I have three sons and one woman, and I have been a living example all his life of what a man should be in a family. Cam is 26 years old, not 18 or 19. He has a heightened consciousness of who he is as a man, and I always tell him the decisions you make you have to live with short and long term. I don’t style it as a mistake; I style it as something that can be a gift for him and the young lady. We’re going to support them in every aspect — physically, emotionally and spiritually.”
Chosen is Cam Newton and Kia Proctor’s first child together. You can see the NFL star in action when the Carolina Panthers compete against the Denver Broncos for the championship title at Super Bowl 50. The big game kicks off at 6:30p.m. (ET) on Sunday, February 7, 2016.
