Congratulations to ABC News correspondent Mara Schiavocampo on the arrival of her and husband Tommie Porter’s son. The couple welcomed their bundle of joy on Monday in New York City and named him Cruz Achille.
“Achille was my grandfather’s name,” shared Mara earlier this week. Baby Cruz was born a healthy seven pounds and eleven ounces. He was expected to arrive on January 11, 2016 but came a few days early.
“We’re calling the baby ‘the sequel’ for now,” Mara said of the family’s newest addition. She further explained that “becoming a mom is the best thing that ever happened to me … I’m just so excited and thrilled and blessed.”
Mara announced her and Tommie’s expectancy last year. “We are thrilled,” exclaimed the correspondent. “I’m definitely focused on keeping up with my health and fitness routine. I’m doing SoulCycle and a lot of strength training,” she added.
Baby Cruz joins the Porters’ daughter, Nina, at home. He is the couple’s second child together.
