On January 4, 2016, Lifetime and V103 hosted a viewing party at Suite Food Lounge for the premiere of the new unscripted series, ‘The Rap Game’.
The Rap Game” will give five emerging young hip hop artists, ages 12 to 16, the opportunity to rhyme and flow with Jermaine Dupri as he searches for the next big name in hip hop. Dupri chose five rappers who are popular on YouTube and Instagram as his cast: Miss Mulatto, Lil Poopy, Supa Peach, Young Lyric and Lil’ Niqo. In the first episode, Jermaine Dupri starts the kids off as interns to give them a sense of what it means to work towards a goal. While some succeeded in completing their tasks and doing a bit of freestyle, a few of the rappers failed to impress the judges.
Jermaine announced plans to debut his newest reality series a few months back. The celebrity dad partnered with Queen Latifah to make the series possible, which is something that fellow executive producer Shakim Compere raved about. “Hip-hop is where Latifah and I came from so it’s great to be able to produce a television show that is derived from our roots,” Compere said.
Catch ‘The Rap Game’ every Friday at 10 p.m. on Lifetime. Watch the first episode here. See more pictures from Friday night’s premiere party, that garnered stars such as Jacob Latimore, below!
