Congratulations to Cam Newton and girlfriend Kia Proctor on the arrival of their son. The couple announced their baby boy’s birth on Wednesday.
“My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week,” Newton shared on Twitter. “Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes,” exclaimed the star.
Cam has refrained from sharing news of his girlfriend’s expectancy with media for good reason. “I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time,” the star tweeted.
Newton, who is a quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, was named as a candidate for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award a few days ago. According to NFL.com, “Newton was thrown into the crucible, tossing go routes and slants to Steve Smith en route to one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in NFL history.” The star player has covered more than 4,000 passing and rushing yards, and is recognized as the fourth quarterback in history to have 17 consecutive starts.
