Don’t talk about Beyonce around Marsai Martin. The ‘Black-ish’ star is a major fan of the Pop singer and will defend the queen to no end. Yara Shahidi shared a story about a practical joke that she and the other ‘Black-ish’ kids played on Marsai during a recent showing on ‘The Jimmy Kimmel Show.’
“We were in a hair and makeup trailer and some Jazz song came on, and we just decided to say that this [song] was Beyonce’s old music before she discovered her sound,” says Yara. “Marsai, being a huge Beyonce fan, was very frustrated because she knew it wasn’t Beyonce’s song but we stuck to it. It became a very heated debate.”
Marsai chimed in by telling Jimmy, “I was like so serious about that. At first I was like, ‘Haha guys, that’s really funny.’ And then I was like, ‘Please stop it.'” The 11-year-old wore a serious face when recounting the story that gave implication to how serious the matter was.
“She’s such a fan,” said co-star Miles Brown. “She says she’s a professional Beyonce fan.”
