Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker and his daughters joined thousands of followers of the Dalai Lama Saturday to celebrate the Tibetan spiritual leader’s 80th birthday. Whitaker introduced His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama at the celebration and said during his speech, “You must always ask yourself if you are standing up for what is right and treating others with kindness and compassion. These questions are your moral compass.”
The event, which took place at Rancho Las Lomas on July 4, 2015 in Silverado Canyon, California, was hosted by Peak Mind Foundation.
“We are honored to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama at this crucial moment in history. With domestic and global challenges calling for newfound cooperation, we look for inspiration from His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a tireless advocate for compassionate action for our shared humanity,” Michael Trainer, Founder of the Peak Mind Foundation said of hosting the event.
Other celebrities in attendance included Zendaya, Michelle Phan, Kelly Slater, to name a few.
