Good things are happening for Drew Sidora. The actress shares her touching love story and pregnancy bliss with PEOPLE.
“We are like, ‘The baby better not come on our anniversary or else we are going to be celebrating every anniversary at a Chuck E. Cheese,'” says Sidora of the impending birth of her and husband Ralph Pittman’s first child. The actress tells media that her past experience with love has made her the strong individual that she is today.
“I just look at my journey and am so grateful,” shares the star. “I wouldn’t change anything from my past because without it I wouldn’t be exactly where I am.” Although she is the proud mother of one son, Josiah, planning for the arrival of another child, and married to the man of her dreams, Drew has not always experienced such happiness.
It was just four years ago that the actress was engaged to be married to Josiah’s father and looking forward to life as a mom and wife when her then-fiance, Ricky Brascom, rendered devastating news. “One day, he just said, ‘I want to be single.’ I was, like, ‘What? We have a child on the way,” Unwilling to beg him to remain in a relationship that he no longer wanted to maintain, Drew allowed Ricky to part ways with her, and moved back to Chicago with her parents. Several months later the actress learned that Brascom was involved in drug trafficking when he was arrested and imprisoned for the offense.
“I felt like I had been tricked. I started to question my own judgment. I started asking myself, ‘How did I miss that?'” Although such questioning led to her developing “trust issues,” Sidora was eventually able to bounce back and build a relationship with Ralph. This is definitely something that Josiah is happy about.
“Josiah would tell my parents, ‘Mommy and I had a wedding and now Uncle Ralph – which is what he had been calling him – is my daddy. He’s my real daddy,'” says Drew of her son’s reaction to her and Ralph’s recent beachfront wedding.
