Grammy Award-winner Brandy Norwood and daughter Sy’rai Iman Smith posed backstage at the Opening Night After Party for Brandy’s debut in ‘Chicago’ on Broadway at David Burke fabrick on April 30, 2015 in New York City.
Norwood made her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart last night , performing opposite Chicago veteran Amra-Faye Wright, who plays Velma Kelly.
Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines(Source:Theatermania).
Brandy will play an 8-week limited engagement at the Ambassador Theatre through June 21.
