Is Jaden Smith coming to a television near you? Apparently so. The Hollywood Reporter alleges that the teen is set to appear in an HBO pilot, and may have a recurring role if the show gets picked up.
Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, best known as writers for ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,’ are apparently working on a new show called ‘Brothers in Atlanta.’ The plot surrounds two struggling entertainers who are “trying to navigate relationships and life in the black mecca of Atlanta” as best friends. Riddle and Salahuddin will star as the central characters, and Jaden will appear as their mysterious friend with a lavish income. Maya Rudolph will also have a role in the pilot.
There were various rumors of Jaden coming to the small screen last year. Many believed that he would join the family of DC Universe as Static Shock after his mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, scored a recurring role on the hit series ‘Gotham.’ Several fans thought the teen would be the perfect person to bring the Static story to the small screen, since the celebrated superhero is also a teenager in the comic series.
Jaden certainly has enough experience to have a recurring role in ‘Brothers in Atlanta’ or any other television series. He has starred in several films, including the highly acclaimed Pursuit of Happyness that starred his father, Will Smith, as a struggling salesman. The first episode of the ‘Brothers in Atlanta’ pilot will make its debut on HBO in coming weeks.
