He may have suffered several injuries that prevented him from finishing two basketball seasons but Derrick Rose is determined to not let anything get him down. The Chicago ‘Bulls’ player recently told media that his son motivates him to reach new heights in his career.
“Having my son, just knowing how he’s going to grow up, it’s different,” said Derrick. “He needs something that’s going to push him. It’s all going to make him want to push himself to the next level.”
Last month, Rose took little PJ with him to speak with children who were the recipients of a $1 million donation given by the NBA star. He contributed the money to a Chicago area after-school program that will use the funds to help kids succeed.
“I did some research and saw that it takes 10,000 hours to master any craft,” said Rose during his speech to the kids. “That’s 10 years. You have to dedicate your whole life to something if you love it.” Little PJ happily interacted with other attendees while his dad spoke. He was having so much fun that Rose had to stop addressing the crowd at the Adidas store and marvel at his tot.
PJ is Derrick Rose’s son with Mieka Reese. He celebrated his second birthday last month.
