OMG Girlz attended the album release celebration for Michelle Williams on September 10th in Atlanta. Michelle (formerly of Desiny’s Child) kept the occasion intimate, but of course there were a bunch of celebrity friends there to show their support for Journey to Freedom.
Now calling themselves OMG, for Officially Misguided, the trio (Beauty, Babydoll, and Star) has been all about expressing their womanly sides lately. In an exclusive with Ms Starz, the group explained that being 18+ now, they want to let the public see that they are coming into their own.
The sexy look is a dead-giveaway. Beauty said, “the whole transformation is really just us just growing up and maturing and becoming women.” Star admits that she is still unsure of how her stepfather, T.I., will react to the new image. “He’s been out of town a lot since we put these photos out. We haven’t got to talk to him about it yet, so I’m not too sure what his thoughts are on the pictures, but I’m sure my mom has to hear a whole earful of it.”
The group was formed in 2009 by Star’s own mother, Tiny Harris. Beauty stressed that since then the group has become much more serious about their work, and that they are very hands-on creatively. “We don’t see ourselves anywhere but everywhere. That’s what we plan to do in the future,” Star elaborated.
Staying grounded has also been of major importance to the girls. Babydoll explained that in order to do so they like to surround themselves with family whenever possible. “Our family is mostly involved and then we have our choreographer and everyone that we just came up with. If anything happens they’ll check us. We have each other to embrace the moment and keep each other grounded.”
Hanging out with Michelle Williams can’t hurt either. Her new album Journey to Freedom has received much acclaim from the Gospel community and represents a new stage in her solo career.
