Jermaine Dupri loves traveling and exploring the world with his daughter. The producer recently shared pictures of himself in various parts of the country with Shaniah by his side.
“Me and shug in these streets,” captioned Dupri underneath one of the pics. He and Shaniah held up a bit of traffic to give followers the perfect view of New York City. The producer also shared a photo of his daughter with him at Champs Family Bakery in Brooklyn. Jermaine made sure that Shaniah tried the eatery’s chicken and waffles.
Mr. Dupri will be the recipient of this year’s ASCAP Founder’s Award. The producer tells Complex how overwhelming it was to hear that he was receiving the award. “I’ve always wanted to be mentioned in the same sentence or at the same time that you say Quincy Jones or you say Stevie Wonder,” says Dupri. “I never even thought that I could ever actually get to become successful in time to be mentioned with these people. It’s really the most humbling part, especially because I’ve been going to ASCAP all my life.”
Jermaine is planning to receive his award in style with a tailor-made suit and accessories that will make his get-up “extremely elegant.”
Meanwhile, the star is passing on his wisdom to social media fans by telling them to work smart, not hard. “There’s a tendency among some dreamers to continue to try the same things over and over until it works,” explains Dupri. “These dreamers call themselves resilient and vow to never quit! They believe that their methods work but attribute their lack of progress on other sources! While their resilience is commendable we must realize that there’s a difference between working hard and working smart!”
