Nia Long and son, Massai Dorsey Jr., attended the premiere of Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club at ArcLight Cinemas Cinema Dome in Hollywood last night. The actress and her son made a wonderful pair as they posed on the red carpet.
Massai stars alongside Nia as her son in the film. Tyler Perry was initially going to hire a child actor from the Atlanta area to play the role of Nia’s son but opted to use Massai after learning that he and the movie’s character were around the same age. This is Massai’s first acting gig and, based on the hype surrounding the Single Moms Club, may not be his last job in Hollywood.
Although she’s had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with her son during the making of The Single Moms Club, Long hasn’t enjoyed as much quality time with her youngest son, Kez. “Last night, I flew in from Toronto and didn’t obey the cardinal rule of ‘never wake a sleeping baby,'” said Nia to the Sun Times a few days back. “I hadn’t seen my son in eight days while my mom babysat, so I woke him up even though he was so sleepy. He had that yummy, drooling baby smell and murmured ‘Tatty,’ which is what he calls my mom. An hour later, he woke up for real and shouted, ‘Mamma!’ That was a perfect moment.”
Nia Long has two kids. The Single Moms Club makes its public debut on Friday (March 14).
