Andre got a major boost in his career after accepting and portraying the role of “Bubbles” on the hit television series, ‘The Wire.’ Royo brought lots of conflict to the small screen in portraying a character who doubled as a drug addict and police informant.
At the show’s end, Andre told media that he was at first reluctant about taking on the role of “Bubbles” due to its negative portrayal of the African American man. “I felt that it played right into the stereotypes of young, black men. And our culture seems to have an unforgiving heart and some of the roles that we take can be frowned upon,” said Andre. ” Looking back [though], I’m so glad that I didn’t walk away from it. Needless to say, it’s been a huge career boost for me.”
Stella is Andre Royo’s only child. The actor is married to entrepreneur Jane Choi. The Spectacular Now will make its premiere on Friday (August 2) at a theater near you.
