BARACK OBAMA: MY KIDS KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO BE POOR

Wealth hasn’t changed Sasha and Malia, thanks to a few relatives who know what it means to live in poverty. President Obama recently spoke with media about his family, where he revealed that his daughters learn about the middle class and impoverished life from family members who work hard everyday just to make ends meet.

“One of the advantages we have is that we still have family members who are not only middle class, but we’ve got some family members who are poor,” explained the President to David Blum of Amazon. “Malia and Sasha have cousins who know what it’s like to struggle and know what it’s like to have to scrape by. They know that those kids are just as worthy as they are, they just haven’t had as much luck.”

The Commander-In-Chief also gave a bit of insight into his upbringing saying, “If you look back on your childhood, or if I talk to my friends, all of us have that same impression when we go back home and we realize that the place where we were living was pretty small. These days people would say, ‘How did you live in a place that small?’ Well it didn’t feel that small at the time. It was secure. It was stable.”

The Obamas took a trip to Africa a few weeks ago, visiting family friends and conducting official business while in the continent. The First Family also toured Europe, where they learned about their heritage which carries remnants of Irish roots.
