Derrick Rose views parenthood as one of the greatest experiences. The NBA star recently spent 90 seconds talking with CNN about his career and family, and couldn’t help but gush about his son, Derrick Jr.
“[Fatherhood is] the best feeling in the world,” said Rose. “[It] slowed everything down. I’m able to relax now.” The Chicago ‘Bulls’ player previously said that the birth of his son stopped time. “Everything stopped when he was born,” explained the athlete. “I try to spoil him as much as possible, not only with material stuff, but just being around him with love and support, letting him know that I will always be there.”
Derrick also told media that although his son’s arrival was one of those epic moments in time, injuring his ACL and subsequently being forced to take a leave of absence from basketball was an extremely low point in his life and career. “I’m putting everything I have on trying to come back as fast as possible. Just trying to be smart with the whole situation. Just taking my time,” said Rose during a press conference earlier this year. “Just taking my time.”
The NBA star has been spending a lot of time with his son since temporarily leaving the game months before his birth last year. Derrick Jr. is Derrick and girlfriend Mieka Reese’s first child together.
