Cymphonique Miller is excited about her new series How to Rock and so is Nickelodeon. The network has high hopes of the 15-year-old being the next great actress in children’s television.
In a recent interview with the New York Times Margie Cohn, Nick’s president of original programming, expressed her faith in the teen actress. Cohn says, “We’re hoping for great things from Cymphonique — a big, fat, giant hit. That’s what I’ve been working for with this series, so why not say it?”
Other executives have also recognized Cymphonique as a rising star. Executive producer David Israel comments, “Aside from her talent, Cymphonique is up for anything you ask of her — to look silly, if that’s good for the show, for example — and that sets her apart. In one episode [of How to Rock] we wanted her to fall into an inflatable pool filled with 800 pounds of macaroni and 50 gallons of cheese. We had a stunt double ready, but she said, ‘Nope, I’ll do it.'”
Nickelodeon has recently experienced declined ratings among its 6 to 11-year-old viewers. Nickelodeon hopes that Cymphonique’s starring role as Kacey will be the boost that the network needs to get back on top.
