Newton reveals that she lets her children stay up late to spend quality time with her when Parker is away on business. As Thandie explains, “I try to be a mirror instead of impressing myself on them all the time. I take responsibility for my actions, explain to them, ‘The reason I’m rushing is’ or ‘It’s not you fault I’m upset.'”

Although she is comfortable being the modern mom, Thandie admits that such parental standing has its consequences. The actress states, “if I come across even remotely annoyed with them, I do get, ‘All right mummy’ and I think, ‘Jesus, you have no idea what real rage is.'”

Thandie has been married to Ol since 1998. Together the couple are parents to 11-year-old Ripley and 7-year-old Nico.
