Queen Latifah has revealed that she would like to become a mother as soon as next year. She tells More Magazine, “I’m definitely going to adopt – or have – a child. I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old.”
In 2007, Latifah spoke of adopting domestically saying, “I want to adopt an American baby though, you know what I mean, no offense.Just because there are so many kids here that need our help. My sister is a social worker, and there are just so many kids that could use a good home.”
More recently, the actress/singer spoke of adopting “a couple of Haitian kids”.
“It’s time. I’m ready. I got two arms, I can handle at least two. I throw a third in a backpack, and one in the front, we could just wrap it in some swaddlin’ cloth right here. Give me four.”
Whether or not the 41-year-old will adopt remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: she is learning how to make the most out of her life. She says that the 1992 death of her brother has taught her to live life to the fullest.
“I think the most important thing I’ve learned is to not stop living. As my Aunt Elaine says, ‘You never get over it, but you get through it.’ I know for a fact that my brother would not want me to stay right there, stuck in that misery.”
