Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware says he’s a big softie when it comes to his 2-year-old daughter Marley.
“Right now anything she tells me to do, I do it,” Ware said. “Whether it’s going swimming, going upstairs to the playroom. I know that will have to change eventually, but right now she’s a little angel and she gets what she wants. She’s got me sacked, but it’s real good.”
This past Thursday, Ware signed copies of a new book called NFL Dads Dedicated to Daughters: Inspiring Personal Accounts on Fatherhood from the Men of the NFL. The book, which features Ware and 70 other NFL players, is an effort on the part of the NFL Players Association and the organization A Call to Men to redefine ideas of manhood.
“They’re sort of trying to make the image of a football player not as brutal as everybody sees it,” Ware said. “Showing that soft side that a lot of guys have and sort of introducing fatherhood and showing the NFL is a family, too.”
