FIRST FAMILY HOLDS ANNUAL EASTER EGG ROLL

The first family kicked off the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday:

More than 30,000 people were expected in two-hour shifts during the 11-hour eggstravaganza. The entire first family attended: President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, grandmother Marian Robinson and the family dog, Bo, immortalized in one of this year’s commemorative wooden eggs.

The Easter bunny had quite the entourage, with musicians, sports stars, celebrity chefs and enough costumed characters — from SpongeBob to Spider-Man— to fill a Hollywood backlot. Olympian Michelle Kwan, tennis legend Chris Evert and the Harlem Globetrotters were among the athletes who put kids through their paces on a day the first lady strove to highlight her anti-obesity agenda. Also on the roster: Chicago’s Ultimate Tumblers.

Michelle recently sat down with Ebony magazine to talk about her family. When asked about parenting by the publication, Michelle said that she and President Obama “feel our greatest responsibility is to raise two productive, respectful, kind empathetic young women.” The First Lady also said that Barack has father-daughter talks with Sasha and Malia often. Michelle states, “My husband talks to our girls about how he expects men in their lives to treat them, and he offers examples by how he treats me and how he treats them.”

U.S. President Barack Obama reads a book "Where the Wild Things Are" alongside first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha (2nd R) and Malia during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll in Washington, April 9, 2012.
