Cordae is going to be a dad again!
The 29-year-old rapper seemingly shared the news on “Helpless,” a track from *Heavy Is the Crown*, his joint album with Anderson .Paak that came out Friday, October 23.
“I’m finna have my second child, although we still ain’t said our vows,” he raps.
He does not name the baby’s mother or share a due date in the song.
Cordae already shares daughter Shai Afeni, 3, with tennis star Naomi Osaka. Elsewhere in the verse, he addresses their breakup and his disappointment that their daughter now lives between two homes.
“Was never my intention to raise my daughter in separate homes / Gave your mom my all, but the love she had for me dead and gone,” he said.
Cordae and Osaka began dating in 2019. The tennis star announced her pregnancy in January 2023, and the pair welcomed Shai that July. In January 2025, Osaka confirmed their split on Instagram Stories.
“No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad,” Osaka wrote.
Cordae has spoken about how fatherhood changed his priorities. In a February 2025 interview with SPIN, he discussed the response to his 2024 album, The Crossroads, which debuted at No. 143 on the Billboard 200.
“Being a dad makes me realize what’s truly important,” he said.
“When you dedicate your life to something and give it your all, some random music critic could say an hour after I drop something I just put my heart soul into, that it wasn’t dope,” he continued. “That s**t could hurt your feelings, but I got a daughter. She’s well fed, taken care of, got a roof over her head, and she’s healthy.”
Shai inspired one of the album’s most personal songs, “Shai Afeni.” On the track, Cordae recalls the first time he saw her: “This feelin’ of joy, this feelin’ of pride.”
