Monica received a birthday surprise she won’t soon forget, courtesy of her husband, Anthony Wilson, and their children.
The R&B singer, who turned 46 on October 24, was treated to a celebration in Atlanta that brought together family, close friends and several familiar faces from the music industry.
“I’m still in awe At the attention to detail and pure love that Anthony & Our Children poured into my first EVER Surprise Birthday Dinner … I would assume I’m not an easy woman to surprise LOL so this level of effort truly has my heart filled with both gratitude and gratefulness,” Monica wrote on Instagram.
The singer also shared a series of photos and videos from the festivities, including a family portrait featuring four of their children.
For the photo, Monica stunned in a floor-length silver sequined gown as she posed alongside her sons Rodney and Ramone, daughter Laiyah and Wilson’s daughter Haley.
The family coordinated in elegant evening attire, with Laiyah and Haley wearing sparkling brown dresses.
One person was noticeably absent from the portrait: Monica’s 18-year-old son, Romelo, who had a basketball game.
“LEGACY …. Minus 1…. Romelo had a game but the siblings held it down,” she captioned the family photo.
Among those in attendance at the birthday dinner were Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Dallas Austin and Polow da Don. Wilson reportedly gifted Monica luxury handbags from Hermès and Chanel.
Monica shares sons Rodney, 21, and Romelo, 18, with rapper Rocko, and daughter Laiyah, 13, with her ex-husband, former NBA player Shannon Brown. She considers Rocko’s older son, Ramone, one of her own, having helped raise him since he was four years old.
Wilson, who has a daughter named Haley, has developed a close relationship with Monica’s children.
In a 2024 interview with HelloBeautiful, Monica praised his dedication to their blended family.
“The most important thing about him that I think people would be surprised because he’s so stern in business, is that he is the ultimate family man,” she said.
“He can tell you where all of my children are most of the day. He loves to make sure that his relationship with them is intact. Not in a way that seems forced but natural,” she added.
