Cardi B is thinking about the legacy she wants to leave behind for her four children, and her haircare company, Grow-Good Beauty, is a big part of it.
During an interview with ET’s Kevin Frazier at Create & Cultivate, the 33-year-old rapper explained that she wanted to build something outside of music that her kids could one day call their own.
“Absolutely. I was panicking like, it’s like, yo, I leave this earth and my kids going to have just music royalties that they mostly going to have to be arguing people about it,” Cardi said.
“They’re going to have a couple of properties and a couple of liquid money, but it’s like what is something that, God forbid something happens to me, I leave behind that is for them,” she said. “This is theirs. It’s yours.”
Cardi shares Kulture, 8, Wave, 5, and Blossom, 2, with Offset. She welcomed her youngest child, a 9-month-old son whose name has not been publicly revealed, with Stefon Diggs.
When Frazier asked which of her children could eventually take over Grow-Good Beauty, Cardi pointed to her oldest daughter.
“I think Kulture,” she answered. “For now. I don’t—you know, my babies, my last two babies are too little. I can’t tell who going to be the bossy boss anymore.”
Kulture recently appeared alongside her mom in a Grow-Good Beauty campaign. Cardi said she made sure the 8-year-old stayed comfortable during filming.
“I was like, make sure that she’s comfortable,” she recalled. “Don’t make the shoots be so long ’cause then she gets uncomfortable that she doesn’t want to do it.”
But Kulture enjoyed the experience.
“She was with everything. She was really like, ‘I want this. I want to do this,’” Cardi said.
Seeing her daughter embrace the shoot gave Cardi another reason to imagine Kulture taking on a bigger role one day.
“I’m like, ‘You know what? I see a bright future on you.’ I do,” she said.
As for whether she wants to add another child to the family, Cardi hasn’t ruled it out.
“Probably not right now, but I do—I do want one more kid. Two more kids probably,” she said. “But not now. Not now.”
“Absolutely not now,” she added. “I do not want to have a baby right now. I feel—I feel so sexy. Like I feel so sexy. I’m having so much fun.”
