Layla Malibu Rose just turned eight, and her parents, Derrick Rose and Alaina Anderson, celebrated the occasion with a laid-back day in Miami.
The family spent time by the pool, swimming and enjoying the day together as they marked Layla’s special day.
Anderson later shared photos on Instagram showing the birthday girl smiling as she posed with her dog, her brother, and her parents in front of a colorful beach-inspired backdrop.
“Whatever my girl wants . Happy 8th birthday bestie I love you @laylamaliburose ,” Anderson captioned.
According to details shared by the balloon design team behind the setup, the birthday girl requested something simple this year.
“When my client says: ‘It’s not a party, let’s do something simple,’” the decorators joked in an Instagram Story.
Even with the low-key request, the décor brought plenty of personality. The setup featured a tropical, ocean-themed arrangement inspired by Layla’s favorite things.
“The birthday girl likes the beach, dolphins, seafish, palm trees, crabs, and all colorful things,” the decorators wrote.
A custom backdrop included bright surfboard-style panels, a pink beach umbrella display, and a sign reading “Layla.” Balloon installations surrounded the space with shades of teal, coral, and yellow, along with dolphin balloons and beach elements that reflected the theme.
One image shared by the design team also showed the original inspiration board created for Layla’s “Layla 8” celebration. The board included dolphins, seashells, beach balls, coral accents, and tropical colors.
Although the event featured festive decorations, Anderson had originally planned to host the setup outdoors. The team explained that strong Miami winds led to the celebration being moved inside.
“So we designed something cute for her,” the decorators shared. “At the beginning the plan was to decorate outdoor too, but it was super windy (Miami).”
Layla’s birthday comes just weeks after a major milestone for her father.
In January, the Chicago Bulls honored Rose with a jersey retirement ceremony.
During the event, Rose shared a lighthearted story about Layla, recalling a moment when she opened a bag of candy for him so he wouldn’t have to do it himself.
“So that’s what I mean by I love you, Lei. You always considerate. Always thinking about daddy. And I got you till the end.”
