Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of Martin Lawrence, and Eric Murphy, son of Eddie Murphy, celebrated their baby shower this past weekend as they prepare to welcome their daughter, Ari Skye.
The couple was joined by family and close friends for the pink themed gathering, which featured a ceiling draped in soft white and blush fabric, balloon arrangements in neutral and rose tones, and a large backdrop that read, “On Cloud Nine: Waiting for Ari Skye.”
In one image from the event, Jasmin wore an off the shoulder rose gown while Eric stood beside her with his hands resting on her baby bump. Martin Lawrence and Pat Smith stood on the other side of the mom-to-be as they smiled for the camera. Eddie Murphy also appeared in photos from the celebration, posing alongside the parents-to-be.
The shower comes weeks after Martin Lawrence publicly shared his excitement about becoming a grandfather. Earlier this month, the actor posted a black and white maternity photo of Jasmin and Eric on Instagram.
“What a blessing to start the day!” Lawrence wrote. “My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild! Watching @jasmin_lawrence and @ericmurphy777 begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me. Family is everything—and this moment is nothing less than a blessing from God. Jasmin also shared the news on her own Instagram, writing, “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift,” followed by red heart emojis. In the announcement photo, Eric rested his hands on Jasmin’s baby bump as she smiled down at him.
The couple’s pregnancy announcement came after another major milestone in their relationship.
During a May 29 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Eddie Murphy revealed that his son had quietly married Martin Lawrence’s daughter in an intimate church ceremony two weeks earlier.
“They went off, everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them,” Murphy said at the time, adding with a laugh that Lawrence would no longer have to pay for a “big wedding.” “We’re in-laws,” he said.
Murphy later shared that a larger celebration could still happen in the future, explaining that the couple “just had the two of them and the preacher” for their ceremony.
The baby girl will be the first grandchild for Martin Lawrence and the fourth for Eddie Murphy.
