Congratulations to Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy’s son Eric Murphy, who are expecting their first child.
Martin Lawrence announced the news on Instagram, saying “What a blessing to start the day!” Lawrence wrote alongside a black-and-white maternity photo of the couple.
He continued, “My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild! Watching @jasmin_lawrence and @ericmurphy777 begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me. Family is everything—and this moment is nothing less than a blessing from God. Welcome to the next generation! #blessed #prouddad #family”.
Jasmin also shared the news on her own page, writing, “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift,” followed by red heart emojis.
Eric appeared in the image with his hands resting on Jasmin’s baby bump as she smiled down at him.
The pregnancy announcement comes after the couple quietly married in 2025.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on May 29, Eddie Murphy revealed that his son married Martin Lawrence’s daughter in an intimate church ceremony two weeks prior.
“They went off, everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them,” Eddie said, joking that Lawrence now doesn’t have to pay for a “big wedding.” “We’re in-laws,” he added.
Murphy later shared that the couple may still celebrate with a larger event.
“They went off and they got married at the church,” he said. “They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing. So I think we’ll have a big party or something.”
Well before their children got engaged, Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy joked about wedding plans and who would cover the cost.
“Eddie said I gotta pay for it,” Martin said on the Dec. 4 episode of the Big Boy’s Neighborhood podcast. “He said I gotta pay for it ’cause he paid for his last daughter’s wedding, like, the last six weddings. He said it’s my turn now. I don’t mind.”
The baby will be the first grandchild for Martin and the fourth for Eddie Murphy.
