Gayle King is officially adding another grandbaby to her growing family as her son, Will Bumpus and his wife Elise Smith, are expecting their first baby.
The CBS Mornings anchor proudly shared that her son, Will Bumpus, and his wife, Elise Smith, are expecting their first child together.
“Breaking news! Our family is growing!!,” the 70-year-old wrote on Instagram Nov. 6. “Favorite son @willgb3 and favorite daughter-in-law, the lovely @elisemariesmith have JUST given me permission to share photos from Sunday’s baby shower and their baby shoot. They can’t wait and neither can anybody who loves them!”
She concluded, “PS: Thanks to photographer PHOENIX @pheeyue for the most spectacular pictures-hope I an get more copies!”
The post included a series of sweet images from the couple’s maternity shoot, featuring Will and Elise smiling on the beach with their dog as Elise showed off her baby bump. Gayle also shared photos from the pair’s brown-themed baby shower, where the expectant parents celebrated with their loved ones, including Gayle’s best friend Oprah Winfrey and Oprah’s longtime partner Stedman Graham.
“Can’t wait to see them become parents,” Gayle told Oprah Daily in an interview published the same day. “They are over the moon and I’m right there with them ready to report for duty for ANYTHING they need!”
She added, “It’s been very very difficult to keep this a secret! I’m so glad they finally allowed me to share the news!”
Will and Elise tied the knot in June 2024. They couple has yet to reveal their baby’s sex. The little one will join big cousins Luca, 3, and Grayson, born in May 2024, whom Gayle’s daughter Kirby Bumpus shares with her husband Virgil Miller.
The soon-to-be grandmother of three recently showed she’s always game for family fun. For Halloween, she joined her grandkids and children in a Cars-themed group costume at Luca’s request.
“Favorite grandson Luca was in charge of Halloween costumes and wanted us all to go as….any guesses?” Gayle wrote on Instagram Nov. 1. “I just do what I’m told! PS: Is it bad to eat the child’s candy?”
Gayle has never been shy about how much she loves being a grandmother. After Luca’s birth, she gushed about her joy on the We Are Family podcast in 2022, saying, “I’m so nuts about this child. I’m certainly not the first person to have a grandchild. I realize that, but what I like is seeing Kirby become a mother herself.”
