According to KHOU 11, the crash happened just after midnight on I-10 near Washington Avenue. Investigators say a BMW traveling the wrong way slammed head-on into Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck causing the BMW to burst into flames. The impact sent the Cybertruck into a nearby semi.

Police reported that both drivers died at the scene. The Cybertruck’s 38-year-old driver was later identified by family as Jamar Champ.

Jamar’s final Instagram posts reflected his deep love for his children. He shared his daughter Amari with Masika Kalysha and served as a bonus father to Kalysha’s oldest daughter, Khari.

In one post, he posed with both girls, writing, “I don’t do for one without doing for the other. Although my stepdaughter has a pops, I still treat them the exact same with unconditional love.”

In another post, he shared a photo with Amari, writing, “You are your child’s inner voice. What and how you say is what they remember! And for daddy, we set the standard of what our lil princess should or will accept.”

Amari recently celebrated her third birthday on October 7. The day before, Jamar posted a touching message about his daughter: “My baby last day being 2yrs old!!! I thank God for one of the best blessings and decisions of my life. She change me and made me closer to God almighty and to trust his word… I thank you Amari for being the best thing happen to me Princess Amari Champ your smile is worth any fight any judge any argument to be your Daddy!!!
