In addition to all of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Kim Kardashian’s daughter, North, is showing major love to her mom, with a sweet birthday tribute.
The 12-year-old took to TikTok recently to celebrate The Kardashians star on her 45th birthday, sharing a sweet selfie of the two posing outdoors. In the picture, North holds up a peace sign while she and her mom pout playfully for the camera.
“Happy birthday to my mom i love you so much and i hope you have the best birthday ever,” North wrote over the image. “Thank you for always being there for me and supporting me.”
The 45-year-old, who shares North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm with ex-husband Kanye West, has always been vocal about the close bond she shares with her oldest child. And lately, that bond has been front and center as North begins stepping into her own sense of confidence and style.
Earlier this month, Kardashian appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and opened up to host Alex Cooper about navigating motherhood in the public eye and how she’s proud of North for knowing who she is.
“She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like… my blue hair or this or that. She’s really confident and is like, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those people.’”
The SKIMS founder also acknowledged that she’s still learning as a parent, especially when it comes to the internet’s scrutiny of North’s fashion choices, like the dermal piercing her daughter wore on a trip to Rome that stirred up debate online.
“I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world,” the mother-of-four admitted. “As a mom, you’re kind of like learning at the same time.”
While critics have their opinions, Kardashian said she’s grateful that North stays grounded and authentic.
“She teaches me a lot. So she has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves,” Kim said. “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much.”
That self-awareness, the proud mom explained, even shows up in North’s wardrobe decisions.
“All of her friends were getting really girly outfits, and she tried it with me once. And she wore something that was really girly,” Kim recalled. “And she was like, ‘Whoa, wait, this isn’t me. I just get that I love dressing a little bit more tomboy-ish.’ And she loves her T-shirts and her jerseys and her jorts.”
Kim continued, “She tried it for a good week, to be like, girly or wear what the kids, you know, her friends were wearing. And then she realized quick, like, ‘This isn’t me,’ and I love that for her.”
