Gekyume Onfroy, the son of the late rapper XXXTentacion, recently gave his first-ever interview and it is the cutest thing ever!
During a chat with content creator Brandon Sloane, the six-year-old opened up about his future plans and even got a chance to pick out some toys at Target.
Without hesitation, he chose two Funko Pop! Pokémon figures—Mimikyu and Greninja.
When asked why he chose the toys, he said, “To be a YouTuber,” and followed it up with, “I’m on YouTube, so that’s why I’m a YouTuber.” He added that he’s “10 billion days” serious about becoming one.
The conversation then took a more personal turn. Sloane asked Gekyume if he had a message for his late father, to which the little one responded simply, “I love him.” Gekyume then asked Sloane, “Do you love your mom and dad?” After hearing an affirmative answer, he smiled and shared, “Ok, That’s good,” before adding, “My dad went to a hospital. He didn’t never make it.”
As their conversation came to a close, Gekyume issued a playful challenge to Sloane—a rap battle for $10. Staying true to his father’s musical roots, Gekyume even incorporated a bit of singing into his rap, showcasing his natural talent and his deep connection to his dad’s artistic world.
XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was tragically killed on June 18, 2018, just a few weeks after he found out he was going to be a father.
Jenesis, the late rapper’s girlfriend and Gekyume’s mother, says that Jahseh had names picked out for his child.
“Gekyume means different state or next universe of thought. And yes, Jahseh picked out this name before he passed away,” Sanchez said in an interview. “I know it’s kind of hard to say, Gekyume. So, he goes by Yume.”
