Eva Marcille and her ex-husband, Michael Sterling, came together to celebrate their son Maverick’s fifth birthday on September 27.
The pair took the birthday boy to a hibachi restaurant where he got to toss an egg in the chef’s hat, much to his delight.
Marcille shared photos from the celebration on Instagram, writing, “Early happy birthday to my big boy. You’re my baby, but you’re my world. I love you, Maverick Sterling. You are the epitome of your father, a Maverick, unconventional beyond expectations. Enjoy this fifth year of your life. We love you Big boy!!! Officially 5 tomorrow.”
Mike also took to social media to express his love for his son. He posted a touching message that read, “Maverick Leonard Sterling. I cannot believe my youngest is now celebrating his 5th Birthday. Happy Birthday my son. I love you so much.”
Despite their divorce in 2023, Eva and Mike continue to show their dedication to their children. Together, they share two sons, Michael Jr., 6, and Maverick. Eva also has a daughter, Marley Rae, 10, from her previous relationship with Kevin McCall.
In an interview with Tamron Hall in April 2024, Marcille opened up about her divorce, comparing it to death. “I think divorce is grief. It is like a death. It is important to remember that you are not alone.”
Eva also revealed that the process took a toll on her physically, leading to significant weight loss.
She said, “So for me, I lost weight just naturally going through life, and I found myself depressed—before my divorce, through my divorce—trying to navigate and rediscover who I am. I’m not the wife anymore; I’m someone’s mom.”
She continued, “But if I took the mom away, if I take Madam away, if I take Top Model away, like, who is Eva? Who am I? And making sure that I prioritized knowing that character and building that character.”
