Marlon Wayans and his ex, Brittany Moreland, are embroiled in a bitter paternity lawsuit. And now, the 51-year-old actor is speaking out.
In court documents obtained by People Magazine, the 34-year-old mother of Wayans’ youngest child, 15-month-old daughter Axl, has filed for full custody of the minor child. Recently, Moreland filed a petition to determine a paternal relationship with Wayans in the state of California.
Wayans voluntary signed a declaration of parentage on Dec. 13, 2022, one day after the baby girl’s birth. Now, the actor is speaking out about the situation in a recent conversation with The Shade Room.
“It’s the classic case of a good, loving, responsible father shelling out over $18k per month for a one-year-old, and an entitled woman decides she wants more,” he said in the exclusive interview. Wayans compared the situation to women who are receiving much less than Moreland, specifically comparing the situation to women in his own family.
“My mama and dem would’ve lost their minds for $2k.”
Wayans went on to say to say in the interview that he didn’t like being called a “visitor” to his daughter.
“Do you pay all that money per month and be called a ‘visitor?’ Do the math. This is delusional. I will let the lawyers and God do what they do. I’ll be creating art from a broken heart. I got nothing but love. Even when it’s bad, it’s good…it’s GOD.”
In addition to seeking full custody of the minor child, Moreland is also petitioning the court for “reasonable expenses of pregnancy and birth,” to be repaid by Wayans, as well as fees and litigation costs to be covered. Per court documents, Moreland has listed herself as an “unemployed graduate student”.
In addition to Axl, Wayans has two other children: Kai and Shawn, with whom he shares with ex-Angela Zackery.
