Birthday wishes are in order for former Destiny’s Child singer, Kelly Rowland’s youngest son, Noah. The toddler recently turned three-years-old and his mother took to social media to celebrate his special day.
“Noah Jon Weatherspoon My favorite 2nd born son!!” Rowland began her caption of a carousel of family photos and video on Instagram.
“Your smile can light up ANYWHERE YOU GO!” “You have brought so much light into this world, our world, as a family!” she added. “Continue to shine your light everywhere you go! I Love You Forever and Ever, Mommy.”
In a previous exclusive cover interview with Kindred by Parents, the multi-Grammy Award winner told the outlet that her desire for her children is for them to become “great black men.”
“I wanted my boys to have integrity and I got that from Nipsey Hussle. It’s amazing to me that he would talk to his kids about making the right decision even when no one is watching. That was everything. Nobody knows how much, how hard you work but you do it because you love it. I want them to be the kind of men who are proud of themselves. That’s really important to me—being good decision-makers.”
Rowland continued, “I just want to get this right. I want to really be a part of bringing some really amazing young men forth into the world. That was my only prayer. I don’t know why I’m emotional, but my only prayer was to have really great young Black men in this world who were sure of themselves and didn’t have to be told who they were. I really cared about that because the narrative is tough as it is.”
In the interview, Rowland also has a suggestion for parents to help encourage and bring forth their children’s greatness, while also bonding with them on their level. The singer suggests that to accomplish this goal is to simply “celebrate” your children and “get lost in their interests”.
“If we’re gonna grow our kids, like, let’s be lost in their interests and the things that bring them joy. Let’s have joy with them about it.”
“I’ll sit out here and watch him do basketball or do whatever it is that he loves so much because I want him to know that I see it. It’s wonderful. It’s worth celebrating. You’re worth celebrating. Your try is worth celebrating. I love all that is you.”
The 42-year-old singer shares both Noah and her eldest son, nine-year-old Titan Jewell Weatherspoon, with her husband, activist and talent manager, Tim Weatherspoon.
Happy Birthday Noah! We hope that your day was just as special as you are.
